Join over 385 delegates for the most comprehensive program for advancement/development in Australasia in 2010.
Welcome to ADAPE Adelaide 2010
I am truly honoured to be Chair of ADAPE 2010 Adelaide. Having had the privilege of being at the first Conference in Hobart in 1990 where ADAPE finally came of age as a professional association, I have long had an interest in the development of our profession and its practitioners. Experienced and beginner practitioners will each have their own specially crafted segments as a focus at the commencement of the conference.
The SA/NT Chapter is excited about the program for 2010 which will focus on a number of new technologies in our workplace, with the application of them being utilised regularly throughout the conference. We are planning for a vibrant people centred time in Adelaide. People, Philanthropy and Promotion are the main conference themes, with issues such as fundraising, marketing, enrolments, communications, community relations and alumni engagement fitting within these three key headings. We will also look at management and leadership as well as speculate on the future, just to keep us all on our toes! Our aim is to run a 'Green' conference and we hope to lessen our environmental footprint as much as possible.
My experience ranges over 25 years in advancement with educational, not for profit and community organisations. I am fortunate to have had a background in the development of a number of not for profit projects Australia wide and with senior posts in government and education sectors. Being awarded as a Fellow of ADAPE in 2008 was a special privilege.
I seek your input, thoughts and papers will help us shape this conference, please feel free to send any details to adape@adape.org.au.
Equally, we know that the success of our conference will rely on the support of our sponsors, and we thank them for their generosity and commitment to ADAPE.
2010 will be the celebration of 20 years of professionalism for our organisation – a fantastic milestone of achievement for development professionals throughout Australasia! Let’s celebrate whilst charting the next 20 years!

The Conference and Exhibition will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, South Australia.
The Adelaide Convention Centre is located in the CBD of Adelaide, adjacent to the picturesque River Torrens and parklands. Adelaide is a compact city of approximately 1.2 million people, situated between the beautiful Adelaide Hills and the long white beaches of the Gulf of St Vincent . Settled in 1836, Adelaide retains much of the charm and tranquility of the past while offering all the vigour, multicultural diversity and conveniences of a modern city. Adelaide is known for its biennial Arts Festival, its many churches and graceful stone buildings and its location within an hour's drive of some of Australia's most famous and beautiful wine producing regions. Many of our delegates undertake pre- or post-conference activities and tours to visit South Australian attractions such as the Barossa Valley, Kangaroo Island and the beautiful Flinders Ranges , as well as other sights closer to the city.
