Congratulations to the New Director Alumni and Advancement at La Trobe!Posted: Wednesday, 12 June 2013New Director Alumni and Advancement at La Trobe
Dr Alan Watkinson, previously Director of Advancement at Melbourne Business School, has been appointed as La Trobe University’s new Director of Alumni and Advancement. Alan’s appointment follows the retirement of Professor Robin Williams in April 2013.
Alan brings with him extensive alumni and advancement experience in the education sector which includes executive leadership at Trinity College, University of Melbourne and Scotch College. He has served as president and chairman at ADAPE (now EducatePlus) and in 2010 his contribution to educational philanthropy in Australasia was recognised with a Trevor Wigney Award.
Alan will lead the University’s alumni and advancement program which seeks to strengthen alumni engagement and increase alternative revenue streams, as La Trobe approaches its 50th anniversary.
Professor John Dewar, Vice-Chancellor Professor of La Trobe University says that Alan’s appointment comes at an important time for La Trobe University as it prepares for its milestone anniversary and to meet ambitious goals set in FutureReady, the University’s strategic plan released in late 2012.
‘I am excited by the energy and focus I find at La Trobe at this important time. La Trobe has such a vibrant and unique character which has been shaped by its history and alumni who have gone on to make their mark in the world. I look forward to leading the Alumni and Advancement team as we continue our engagement with La Trobe’s alumni and community of support,’ says Alan.
